Didn't read this thread, but was at Bingo last week in Lakewood and there was no reason to protest unless you're anti chickens being eaten. Never saw anything as organized and calm.

When I was a boy, I worked at my shul's Kaporas center helping out the women and families who were disgusted to handle a chicken themselves. Once a lady asked me to do two chickens for her, little did I know why a woman should need two.. so I asked her why two?? She answered because I have a very lot aveiros... In hindsight, I should have offer her an Ostrich instead.

Perhaps, otherwise she'd need three, unless she's ok with one zachor and one nekeiva and not following the Ari.

Eta. Asking for a zachor would have been even more strange, so likely asked for 2 nekeivos and knew the gender already.
