Anyone here has experience with a full day stopover in VIE on Austrian airlines JFK-VIE-TLV, will the bags be checked all the way through, or I'll have to pick them up and recheck?
Why shouldnt it go through? its only a 12 hour stop

Very true. I am from Vienna and my father would fly to Israel that way so many times. The tickets would always be somewhere around 1/3 cheaper (savings after taking driving, gas, parking x2 into consideration).

Thanks

They are actually only open for Pesach and the summer.

From what I see there isn't any year round Kosher hotel or restaurant in the region.

I'll be up in the Alps for 2 days this week.  I would be very excited to hear of somewhere I can eat a kosher meal in the region.  I also need lodgings,  however that is easier arranged as there are many hotel options.

Where in "the alps"? Might want to reach out to some restaurants in Vienna and see if they ship anywhere there? I know a lot if not all the shechting happens in Salzburg so they go out there frequently.
