On the other hand if it was wiki'd like other threads were it would be a lot easier to read.

Read the thread? ::)
thanx for the warm welcome ???

i read the thread before posting, but theres not much info about shabbos in vienna (thanx rots). if anyone went and ate shabbos meals in the restaurant (i think its alef alef), or had a good experience with hotel on shabbos or good minyanim- it would be a big help.

also, stroller tips would be nice too, although thats not as important as the basic info. thanx

Alef Alef is open shabbos but you must order in advance. I did eat there during the week and the food was great but overpriced. We stayed shabbos in Gross's apt rentals and ate takeout food as its much cheaper.
There are many places to daven shabbos, including Khal Chasidim and Ohel Moshe.
As per a article in the Ami Magizine a while ago there is a eiruv in most of Vienna.

has anyone been to salzburg/innsbruck region with kids? looking for tips on things to do with an almost 2 year old. will be based in salzburg (spg) and innsbruck (ideas for hotel?) but we'll probably have a car so it can be something that requires some traveling into the mountains. i've read about the ice caves - looks amazing - but doesnt seem doable with this age kid.

In general, Google maps is a great way to find hotels near an address or area. For example, type "hotels near 1 Main street NY, NY". Or "hotels near Vienna". Or even "Starwood hotels near Boston". It will also provide pricing for most major hotels and some smaller inns & motels.

I'm going in a few weeks and booked the starlight suites. Heard about it from friends. Suites are nice and spacious, price is great, and it's within a 10 min walk of the restaurant (I think shuts too).

Hotel Stefanie is on the main street in the Jewish area (Taborstrasse) and kosher breakfasts are available. 1-2 min walk to the few kosher restaurants and groceries and shuls. Highly ranked on TripAdvisor

Hogtel Stefanie is a 2 minute walk to the bakery, shul, kosher market, pizza place and most of the other restaurants.  There is also a Hotel Mercure that looks nice that is in the Jewish area.  Alef Alef is in the central part of the city next to the Main Synagogue, about 15-20 minute walk to the Jewish area I describe.

Exactly. It's around 15 min from the Bristol to Alef Alef, and that is another 15 min to the main Jewish scene.
Around 30 in total.
