Definitely free shipping. You will attract a lot more customers like that.
Depends which customers. I'm sure Monsey people would rather a bonus credit.

Also a lot of people Amy prefer a credit and then when they are ready in a few months to buy something they will use the credit from all their cards.

it seems from what i have spoke to other customers who have walked in today and yesterday that money back makes more sense. they can always use that money back towards shipping, or even towards more items. im sure if we offer free shipping there will be restrictions. for example, min 100$ needs to be spent inorder to get free shipping. or, min of 20$ shipping costs.

If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

Maybe give $110 of gift cards for every $100 and offer free shipping on $100+ orders?

exactly. money back means that. the issue with free shipping is that there will have to be restrictions. it seems crazy but i just sent out stuff today to S africa, and Australia. giving 5$ for every 50 and free shipping seems a bit much... obviously were tryng to get the customer, i am not in marketing, i know though if a store offered money back and free shipping id jump on that :D

Obviously US48 only.
u do realize seforim is abnormal heavy... a box from artsacrol on a normal day can range from 10-35$....and thats just one box. i would quicker cap a max ship cost at 25$ than say us48 (sounds like a flight).
and being that tuvia's is old school they dont put ups on a PRG or Ink... so theres no cutting loses here

but i do understand the want for free shipping. its what gets me a lot to shop at amazon quicker than other places.

I hear ya. How does Amazon do it though?
There's got to be some minimum size order where it can make sense.

amazon is prob top five biggest companies in the world.  Theybhae deals worked out with FedEx/ups.

No 2. They don't pay rent. That's where the kicker is in a retail biz.

No 3. That's why i said capped at 25$. After that its to much IMHO.

Amazon has multiple shipping centers strategically placed around the us. They generally would not need to ship a heavy box cross country as they already have the product nearby

Even $25 can be too much depending on order size. Make the shipped credit proportional to the order size?

were dealing with a man who doesn't have a cell phone. ;). You think he'll listen to me about this? What your saying makes so much sense, yet i don't see t happening.

Obviously if someone orders a yarmulka with a name on it and officially has the 25$ cr, he can't say send it overnight - AM delivery. My Father will go broke. But if someone has "upto 25 shipping cr on cheapest shipping" that might work out better.

And yes amazon has perfected there business. Its a work of art.

I agree. There is no reason for you to make this complicated.

I remember reading this article about a huge safe on Amazon and how Amazon pay a ton for shipping

As a fellow "monseyite" (grew up there) let me just say this: The past 2 years I've been there for SBS and its been very disappointing! I have called a few stores and asked them to open on motzai shabbos, most didn't even know what I was talking abt the few that did said they where thinking of opening but in the end they didn't. I believe that if your father where to offer something like Dan said $110 for $100 he would get the Monsey crowd by droves! As long as its properly advertised (think s/t like community connections would do the trick) he should be able to generate a ton of Bussiness. Plus one last thing your father is one of the straightest Bussiness people I know. He never plays the shtick the other business do, and people know that. I think that together with a promo that should generate a lot of Bussiness. (One year I got 8 gift certificates to a store $25 for $30, sounds pretty good right? Every time these idiots ran a sale they would tell I couldn't use it cuz the g/c are already a sale..... P.s. I still have them bec their reg prices are through the roof. Those are the kinds of shticks ppl play!
