As a fellow "monseyite" (grew up there) let me just say this: The past 2 years I've been there for SBS and its been very disappointing! I have called a few stores and asked them to open on motzai shabbos, most didn't even know what I was talking abt the few that did said they where thinking of opening but in the end they didn't. I believe that if your father where to offer something like Dan said $110 for $100 he would get the Monsey crowd by droves! As long as its properly advertised (think s/t like community connections would do the trick) he should be able to generate a ton of Bussiness. Plus one last thing your father is one of the straightest Bussiness people I know. He never plays the shtick the other business do, and people know that. I think that together with a promo that should generate a lot of Bussiness. (One year I got 8 gift certificates to a store $25 for $30, sounds pretty good right? Every time these idiots ran a sale they would tell I couldn't use it cuz the g/c are already a sale..... P.s. I still have them bec their reg prices are through the roof. Those are the kinds of shticks ppl play!

The real trick will be how to nab people from outside Monsey and it'll be very tough.  Free shipping is great but most people have local stores where they don't pay for shipping anyway.

My guess is that offering a $10 bonus cert per $100 spent (that can be used however you want: towards goods and/or towards actual shipping costs) might be the way to go.

Last year I went on a spree in the aventura mall. Had 4 cards left at the end of the day. Was planning on visiting Monsey a month later. Called tuvias. Was a breeze. This year I live in Monsey. Not sure I would do all my spending there. But some I prob would.

@tzfanya that is ver appreciated. Its nice to hear it once in a while. Yes the past few yrs we've been open every sat night in the winter. (Its my dads way to not wash dishes jk). As you mentioned i am working on ads, wee not sure the route we wanna take. Another issue that seems like there is, that most ppl in monsey for even get the concept. There was prob 2 out of every 50 Amex swypers that knew why sbs was this past week. (And i put in 14 hr days there)

@dan i am working on correct wording for that exact promo. It seems like the 110 for 100 is the rigt way to go  ppl can use that extra 10 towards shipping as well.

It's Thanxgiving weekend -- all is quiet! 

I'm glad that I had the extra few hours in CA before the midnight deadline-- Shilo's was awesome - I went in person....
