Is it worth using AA miles?
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:31:03 PM »
If this topic is somewhere already, please point me to it.
If round trip tickets to Miami Beach from NY are in the high 300's - close to 400, is it worth using miles? I want to know if it's worth the standard 25,000 per ticket or even the 50,000 anytime ticket (right now the only one available). We plan on going for Purim. Thanks

Not worth for anytime, and probably not even for the saver.

OK. You got me. I'm an AA and SPG man for all these years. I keep seeing this Avios thing. PLEASE point me in the right direction that will describe what this is and why I should want it. Maybe it's time!

How much would they be for NY to Miami Beach? Is it 1 mile per dollar spending? Can you put in SPG 20000 for 25000? Etc.

Not bad but it's the fuel charges that really bite.
