Isn't the gold status w SPG itself? And therefore should not be removed even if you close the CC. I got Gold through the Amex plat and then downgraded to gold card, but still have gold status with SPG

Very possible that the multiple cards and bonuses came from before "new rule" of once every year of inactivity.

You can always try and go for it, but YMMV.

I am in the same boat as you. I already had a starwood consumer, and just signed up for a new SPG Biz and consumer, instantly approved for both. I too did not realize it would not be eligible for the bonus after reading how many ppl on the forum have multiple spg personal cards. I made a new spg number for the personal card, and used my old number for the biz. I got the 10k after first spend on the biz, but not on the consumer.

I will hit 5k and see what happens with the other 20k bonus.

Should I cancel my delta amex to get approved for hilton card. I already got the sign up bonus from delta. Any good things come with the delta card that would not make it worth to close down and get the 60k hilton points?

The bonus for my business card already posted before the statement closed. I don't think it will post on the personal. Question is if I call will they give anything or will they just say I'm not eligible. Only one way to find out I guess...

I tried chatting and the rep said it could take 6-8 weeks for the points to post, so although I doubt they will post automatically I guess I have to wait out that period before they will give me anything.

I don't believe it is associated with just an SPG number, could be they are looking at your SS#.
