August 27? I doubt it.
And it's not an agreement, it is terms that were forced on AA/BA by the government.  I do expect them to be lifted soon, but not that soon.

Its already been lifted, the question is when the airlines will allow earning/burning mileage on the other airline.
For more discussion see this FT thread.

The other question is whether you'll pay taxes when redeeming BA miles for AA transatlantic flights.

BA doesn't charge a fuel surcharge when flying on partners.

Does anyone know how it will affect my BA miles on getting to Israel in coach? Until now it was pointless due to the $500 surcharge, but will I now be able to use it on American to stop in Paris of Switzerland for example, thus avoiding the surcharges on Iberia or BA?

Also am I correct in assuming that I won't be able to use the BA miles to fly with AA, on an ELAL nonstop flight?

you won't be able to fly on el al because they only have a agreement with aa & not with one world, & you would be able to use your british miles to fly to israel by booking a aa flight NY-London & the ba from london-tlv & your taxes should be cut drasticly

I think BA's fuel surcharge is $111 per leg.
So by flying AA JFK-LHR and then BA LHR-TLV you would pay only $222 instead of $444.
Of course that besides for all of the required taxes and ripoff UK airport fees.
