Any recent experiences at Izzy's fried chicken?
Get the smoked fried chicken sandwich from the smokehouse.

For delivery orders I feel like portion sizes and quality has gone down with COVID. Personally I’d go to Boeuf and Bun across the street.
I'd go to beouf n bun for the appetizers and izzy fried chicken for the burger

That's ironic considering B&B is a burger place, though I agree the other stuff at Boeuf and Bun scores higher than their burgers.

B&B's best items are their sides, not their burgers. Which is weird, as it's, you know, a burger joint. As a friend renamed it: Everything but the Burger.

I heard that the markup on the appetizers is more than the markup on the burger

How have they not fixed their burgers yet? Was also underwhelmed by them.

I haven't had a burger there since posting that. For all I know, they have improved them

Fascinating. I'll be sure to let their accountant know.

I know you don't care, but it's a reason why they don't care to make their burgers better

So much for passing themselves off as a burger lab.

The funniest was when they delivered a day early.
At least they didn't charge for it. :)

Portion sizes definitely aren't impressive, but the actual fried chicken is pretty decent.

I know Shawarma isn't necessary a high-end food, but I've been a bit obsessed with it lately. I  was wondering what is considered to be the best shawarma places in the NY area, between Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and even Monsey area. Looking for a Israeli type place, with real middle eastern spicing etc.

Olympic pita on Coney

I was there years ago. Decent choice!

from my favorites are:

Ahuvas Grill Express in Lawrence. It's been years since I was there, so not sure current quality. Was very solid back then. It has Yemenite flavors which is awesome

Achla Shawarma in Monsey, also very good

Was by Le Brick in Monsey recently. Owner was super nice. I wanted to try their lamb shawarma buts its not on the menu daily. Went with the chicken. It was good but could have been more well done I think.

Pitopia on 34th in NYC. Very good but again, its been years. Not sure he is still open. I happened to know the owner, an american guy who made Aliyah. Really awesome guy

In my humble opinion a shawarma is way better in a pita compared to a laffa. Just the way the bread interacts with the meat and sauces.

I do remember their fresh warm and crispy laffas, delicious! but would rather use that to wipe chumus and salatim
