IIRC their menu wasn't too expensive. Then again, it was awhile ago

This is Henche's spouse.
Chagall: The food was delicious. We had goose liver pate, spring rolls, steak, and creme brulee for dessert with french custard.
I had never tried these foods before (except the steak) so bear that in mind.
The pate was delicious, a bit like chopped liver but saltier. It came with truffle pieces mixed in. It was excellent.
The spring rolls, which had duck in them, were delicious too. The steak was perfect. One of the best I've ever tasted. And the creme brulee was amazing. The french custard was a bit caramel-y and I don't really go for that taste, so I can't judge it. Overall the food was outstanding and beautifully presented.

The service was excellent and we really liked the ambience, it felt very french. There weren't a lot of people there the night we came, which gave us a lot of privacy.

We didn't consider price when looking at the menu, but just ordered whatever sounded good. It all came to $100 including tip. Not bad for a fancy anniversary dinner.

The ambiance is in fact very unique and  nice but when I was there -2 ppl -we somehow dropped  about $140. And we ordered two mains and an appetizer.

Its not KD at all. It's a low end Chinese restaurant with waiter service. And it's on M and Coney.

went to the Loft last night. was just meh. the only thing that was really great were the cocktails. all of them were perfect.
the entire table got steaks (6 of us). we all ordered either med-well or med-rare. they were all well done. i like my steak pink and it was quite chewy. me and one other person got the rib eye, someone ordered skirt steak and specifically asked for salty, she sent it back right away as it tasted of bbq sauce completely. the crispy beef was so bad (too embarrassed to send back), filet mignon was ok. we waited for our food for an hour and we (mainly I) kept asking the waiter where our food was. they gave us chicken lollipops (13) and pulled beef sliders (30) on the house, so that was nice. mashed potatoes were nasty. we did not want dessert.
this was my second time going to the Loft. the first time i went was 2 years ago and i was incredibly disappointed with the flavor and the service. i was told that they have since changed management/chef (not sure which, maybe both?) and that they are now phenomenal... not so much. it also feels very local. not hard to forget you really are on 13th avenue.
one more thing, we went to Reserve Cut just last week so maybe i'm holding them to higher standards. certainly flavor-wise.

Yup, I very much enjoyed 2 weeks ago.
Funny though, AJK also told me he had a bad experience last night after a previous excellent experience.

Off-night?

which is why i was willing to give it a go... would have been better off at Wolf & Lamb

unfortunately one of our party only eats a certain hashgacha and that greatly limits our options :(
