Every one-time customer is a potential repeat customer. That's just up to the restaurant!
thats why we are saying they need good customer service

Went to a dairy restaurant
while the food was delicious the service was below par
and at $140 I would never go back
their service must excel beyond their food!

I believe Gratuity is ruining the service in restaurants because its either mandatory or expected

there is no such this as giving a lower tip

I wish they had a True Tipping System
Please don't feel the need to tip if the service wasn't on the level.

Horrible - 0%
Bad - 5%
Ok - 10%
Good 15%
Super 20%

yes but going once won't help them. They need repeat customers to stay in business

And the instagram that caused you to go was probably from someone who already went and enjoyed. If someone went and had bad service I don't think you end up there.

The Instagram was probably a kosher foodie who was either paid to be there or at least get a free meal

By the way, if a restaurant owner/management sees that a customer bears no potential e.g. they just sit around to hold up a table whilst ordering only appetizers to get away cheap etc. then you can be sure they'll get service that won't bring them back again. Part of running a good management is having a keen eye out for which customers are worth pampering and which not.

Service in restaurants had gotten very bad latley, they can't afford good quality employees, i had recently in a few high end restaurants that they don't know English and they mess up

Even such a system would be flawed. Most people bunch together their overall experience, and judge it by that. If the food was horrible they'll have a hard time tipping regardless of quality of service.

By removing the mandatory tip system, restaurants would likely need to raise their menu prices 15%-20% to compensate..

I hope you not a restaurant owner or related that's so false in any business,  you have to do yours , service should always be 100+ , a good deed never goes away empty

Why? What happened?
The Fusion was my favorite restaurant the last few years , i found them to be consistent with food, quality, service, ambiance, price and everything in between.

The old Chef went to upside burger , i wonder why they need him ,do they have further plans ?

I've heard this argument for a while, and don't buy it. The margins on successful kosher restaurants warrant enough capital to be able to pay all of the aspects of running the restaurant (service included). Yes, if the owner wants to pass their cost of paying their servers while maintaining their full profit you have a point. What about splitting the difference. If tipping is not an optional thing based on service, then they should call it a fee (some places do this) and be done with it. Needless to say, when I see mandatory tipping, it affects my decision as to evaluating the place for the future. I also traditionally tip 20% for decent service, but will never go above the mandatory at any place with a system like this (usually 15 -18%).

Maybe places with mandatory tipping can attract better servers

but they can drop in there service once the job was secured.

I have another idea 15-18% mandatory
can stay.... It's too much of a novel idea to work

but what about Sealed Survey Cards about the server

now the Waiter knows you will be able to review his service and drop it in the box on the way out etc.

I've heard this argument for a while, and don't buy it.
Now when looking at the menu, I need to factor in an extra 26.9% to the price (18% tip + 8.875% tax) I’m seeing. So my $50 steak is really $63.50..

Why not just raise the prices and be done with that?

Understandably, restaurants want you to think you’re paying $50, and just throw in the few “mandatory additions” after you’re comfortably fed and ready to leave.

Was wondering how come food stores charge taxes. I thought you don't tax on food. Correct me if I'm wrong

Luxury food is taxed

Groceries not ,food items that you need to live on is tax free ,but not dining out for few 100 bucks
