If I were to design my kitchen today, I would do something similar.

For a young guy coming from a one bedroom and tiny kitchen, I don't think I did that bad designing my kitchen (or the rest of the house). But with the experience of living there with a growing family over the years, I would definitely do certain things differently.

Second a soap dispenser built into the wall for soap and shampoo.

A standard in Mikvahs Today

Start from the beginning. You use a towel every time you shower/bathe. Throw these towels in that load. If it's still an extra load, and you are nebach in a situation that you can't afford it, I'm sure we can start a campaign for you. If you use a towel, you're feet are dried by stepping on it. Issue avoided. When drying in the shower, I'd be surprised if your towel doesn't touch the soaking wet walls. The few times I've tried this, I'm left with a wet towel before I've really used it. If you only step on a Matt with clean feet, post shower, it will be clean for a lot longer.

Extra loads aren't about $$ it's about doing MORE laundry.

But they don't plan such a spot in a kitchen.  Do they think a well used kitchen, that they are planning, will not produce garbage?

I take my pail out of my cabinet constantly as I make smelly garbage, like food preparation.  So it's not dirty, smelly cabinet.
Just tell the kitchen designer to include it. We told the one we were working with that we wanted these slots and I have 3 of them which each has a Slim Jim garbage pail in it with a 30 gal bag. Thye still fill up too quickly.

Sounds like my water bill conundrum. Even if you add a few more, they'd still fill up too quickly, and then people wonder why I am so adamant about having bottles and boxes flattened prior to discarding.

In kitchens, they don't have a usual, convenient place for towels.  I hang mine in my stove handle, but that's not directly near the sink.  I asked my kitchen guy and numerous others, but no one seems to have come up with something workable.
Also garbage paid cabinets don't seem to be a kitchen designer priority. What are they thinking?!
Try these over your cabinet doors: Sometimes at dollar stores.

Now you're talking about a major pet peeve of mine. When there aren't towels ready within reach of a sink (especially one that's specifically intended for washing hands). What's wrong with people?
This is something I've been meaning to post here for ages. Although I would add to that, "When there aren't any dry towels ready within reach of a sink."

It drives my crazy when I go somewhere for a meal and there are like 20 people washing and there's only one or two little towels by the washing sink.

Use paper towels. Do you really want to use a towel 20 other people used?

Personally I put a stack of hand towels by the sink, but yeah, that works and plenty of people do that.

We do it when ever we have guest. If the kids have someone over they can reuse the towel.  :)

I generally do have a roll of paper towels by the sink as well, but for Shabbos I'm usually not interested in dealing with precut...

Is there an issue with paper towels on Shabbos?

As long as they're precut it's fine

Depends on the type. If they are not connected, there is no issue. If they are perforated, like a roll of paper towels, there is a problem with tearing them off.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

Interesting. Why is that?

I have seen worse: those two little towels are not merely wet from multiple dryings, they are also used to wipe up spills, sneeze into, and dry the dishes.

And for kids to wipe their faces when parents aren't looking

And they have something for that too although not quite a loophole.
