I alluded to this. If the price difference in "occasionally" is making that big of an impact on the budget, then it's being bought too often.

ETA: or the foods being bought were too expensive to begin with. No one is buying a lox and cream cheese sandwich for the entire family.

I guess we basically agree, though I think complaints are understandable when prices jump up, as they have been doing, or a place purports to be a cheap family friendly place but surprisingly charges like a more upscale place. I don't think a lox bagel is all that luxurious in the context of getting lunch for the family at a bagel store.

I don't think a lox bagel is all that luxurious in the context of getting lunch for the family at a bagel store.
Costs so much in Y-m that I would never consider it. Instead I collect all the ingredients (for a Rosh Chodesh meal or the like).
PRICES ARE ESTIMATIONS off the top of my head, but they should be more or less accurate.
Bagel sandwich - 22 shekel (cream cheese), 47 shekel (if there's lox in there somewhere)
Bagels - 6.3 each (when buying 13) at the bagel store, 4 each (at Nechama bakery, genuine bagels but weird shapes/flavors), 3.5 each (at Avichayil, much better but a shlep).
Cream cheese - 18 shekel for about six bagels' worth
Lox - 19 shekel for about six bagels' worth
Tuna - less than 4 shekel/can
Vegetables for the sandwiches for the sake of being fair - about 15 shekel covers enough cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. Lettuce is either 3.5 shekel, too much time to check or 8 shekel for prechecked (Mir sale).
Total for 13 sandwiches - about 150 shekel. Savings: about 300 shekel.

Disclaimer: I'm a cheapo and I've always worked part time.
I almost always manage to rustle up something, rather than buying prepared food.
Pasta and cheese can be ready in 15 minutes. Various ground beef dishes can be ready in half an hour. Paninis are a fancy kids meal. Planning (and working) ahead makes a difference.

There are times and places for prepared food for 1 or for a family.  But if it's a staple, it's a menu choice, same as choosing steak or any other food.

Growing up, my mother made fresh suppers daily. I can count on one hand how often we had "pizza night" or the like. She worked from home (still does) and made sure to whip something up, every day of the week. From lasagna to meat balls, and even grilled cheese once in a while. To get take out? A real treat.

Winback deals that are only offered *after* you’ve left.

I moved our business plan with 15 lines to another carrier (in Canada) for a much better offer than what we were paying, and our carrier had refused to give me anything nearly as good.

Two days after I ported out 15 lines, they called and offered to beat the other offer by $5/line. All carriers in Canada have to offer 15-day returns, so they’re asking me to return 15 devices.

I told them no way. Our team is not going to go through the hassle of returning 15 devices and porting 15 numbers again to save $5/line/mo.

If only they’d have made the same offer when we asked. I know they can’t take everyone seriously when they threaten to leave, but still…

Things have gotten MUCH better in the past year or so, in a large part pushed by increased competition from Freedom Mobile, which has forced the legacy carriers to up their game. For the most part they've done so through their secondary brands, which are more than enough for most people. (I wouldn't touch their tertiary brands though.) Unlimited US roaming is also now relatively common at reasonable prices, which was not previously the case.

Business plans have come down a lot with the 3 big carriers too.

To quote something I heard about this- "A bit of new competition in the market accomplished far more the CRTC achieved with decades of regulation."

It's probably true of much government regulation, but this case is glaringly obvious.

Reminds me of the rock bottom prices when Israel forced competition in the cellular market about 12 years ago.

The best years of service I had cell-phone-wise was with Orange. Then, not only did they stop offering unlimited to US, they also didn't have ANY plan with enough minutes to US to match my needs. Having no choice, I switched to Golan - what a letdown... Three weeks later, they call and offer a plan with enough minutes, but I was done being at their mercy, so I declined.

I'm quite irritated that amazon doesn't give email notice when they charge you for your monthly digital services.
Many, if not ALL, my autopay accounts either give notice by default, or allow notice in the settings.
Credit cards,  phone,  gas, insurance, internet

But Amazon has you sign up for their free or discounted trial and then keeps billing you without reminding you that you tried it for a minute.

FYI you can cancel trials without losing the benefits until the trial expires. I always cancel within the day of starting a trial.

No I don't want browser notifications! Why do so many websites ask  >:(
There should be a setting to automatically block any popups for that.

ETA should've searched before. There is a setting to do that
