Well my pet peeve is the one time I tried to universalize my password by including a special character, and found many sited that don't allow such characters...
That's why this is the only conceivable solution

What do you mean universalize my password? Every password should be unique.

I have the same password for all stupid accounts which I dont care for. Different levels of hardship for different types. In order of hierarchy:
Email gets a unique password
Banks/cc their own password
Anything which has cash value (airlines/points/miles) their own password
All the rest of the garbage- get the universal password

Using phrases makes for safer passwords which are easy to remember.

Let's say:
My mother in law behaves like a drunk horse at the track  - mmilbladhatt
DrunkH0rs3!
or my favorite password:
JTZtr0ll4life:-PJK

Worse yet are those site (like United.com new site) that has you list several security questions, many times none of them relate to me, and they won't accept the same answer across the board.
