Can you do it on a one way such as, HAV-PTY-JFK//NYC-XXX?
and if the nyc-xxx? route does not show business availability do you go on waiting list?

Adding a stop over to a one way costs $100.

If there's no availability book a random date and pay the $20 change fee once it opens.

There are some cheap tickets via Cuban airlines which is kinda scary to fly. Have you ever flown interjet? they have some cheap tickets via CUN.

I found on Copa for $550 so prob doesn't pay to use miles for that

If I bring along food do the apt (Casa) have fridge and ovens to warm up the food?
Casa or Airbnb?
Or better off not brining perishables which will make the trick a bit harder?

I used airbnb.

Some places have a fridge and an oven, some don't. Just like anything else.

For anyone going, I have around 50 CUC left over. You'll save 13% vs. getting it in Cuba.

Please PM if you want it (no reason you shouldn't, if you're going ;D).

Sold

Did you base out of Havana and travel around on day trips or moved from place to place?
What else do you recommend besides Venalos for a day trip?
Thanks

We stayed in one place in Havana and went to Vinales for 12 hours or so. No need to "travel around" really, Havana is where you want to be.

Other than Vinales many people go to Trinidad for a day or two, but for reasons I've outlined upthread, I think Vinales is the better option of the two (and Fan of Dan agrees with me, now that's he's done it as well).

It s not new. Jet Blue also has but you have to book those flights thru a charter company which adds on the fees.

BTW I had an amazing time there, and Highly recommend it. Thanks for all your help!

The fact that's it's bookable on AA directly (cash and miles) is the big thing here.

They do, it's not all old cars.

I'd call it around 40% classic American cars, 30% old junk (Russian Ladas and the like), and 30% regular cars, mostly European and Korean.

No. You need to go for one of the 12 so called reasons.

The airline should sell you a "visitor" stamp for $15 before you board the flight. This is just a fee for Cuba to make money.

I went thru customs on both sides and nobody even looked at me.
You will have a great time in Cuba

Even that is high for the 30 minute flight.
