no decent kosher food. the supermarket sells some matzah and gefilte fish. at least when I was there 2 years ago. Only one minyan on shabbos in the main shul.
Thanks, which supermarket? Also, is the minyan at the main Shul in addition to the Chabad House (meaning is it possible that some weeks there's also a second minyan by the Chabad House, or does Chabad daven at the main Shul as well), and can you just show up for a Minyan, or do you need some sort of prior invite, or screening?
Isn't there a Chabad House there now?
I believe so. I just wanted to first confirm that that was probably the best option for Shabbos before contacting the Shliach.
I believe there's a kosher cook but have heard mixed reviews about the quality
Thanks.

IIRC the chabad rabbi davens with the main shul. We needed to send passports beforehand. Don't remember the name of the supermarket, but it was very close to the Sheraton Lisboa.

Thanks. "Send," as in email or fax copies?

Thanks. So would you or anyone else think it would be nice to spend Thursday though Sunday in Lisbon this Shabbos, if traveling alone?

The circumstances are that it's very worthwhile for me to go money/mile wise, as it will make me complete the AA EP challenge. So I can almost treat it like a free (paid?) vacation. Also, I'm very down to get away this Shabbos anyway and I've always thought of Lisbon as an enticing city to visit. With those things considered I'd have booked already, if not for the one downside that I'll be traveling alone. I can't get anyone to come with me at this point, and although I've done it several times in the past I'm not sure how down I am right now for another trip and Shabbos, staying by myself and not knowing anyone in advance. I'll probably do it anyway, but I'd still like to know what you guys think.

Thank you very much for all of your advice. I'm on my way to the airport now. I'm booked in a hotel near the Shul for Shabbos and I'm eating the Shabbos meals by the Chabad Rabbi, Rabbi Rosenfeld. I'm very excited about this trip!

I sent him regards and he sends regards back.

Also, Shabbos in Lisbon was great! Davening at the Shul was really nice as well as the meals at the Rosenfeld's. Also in case anyone is interested how popular Shabbos is in Lisbon this time of year, I counted no less than 38 men by Friday night davening, and 25 by Shabbos morning. Sadly, only 9 showed up for Mincha though.

Can anyone help give me some advice on Lisbon?

I have 8 hours there
sounds like city center is extremely close so we'll time it based on exit
but we should have 5 hours in the city atleast

from what i'm reading
Bus to City Center
Tram
Saint George's Castle
Marques De Pombal Square
Elevador de Santa Justa ?
City Tour?
Baixa district
Alfama Section

National Museum of Ancient Art or Coach Museum

Enough time to see the port or pass?

Any updated information on Shabbos in Lisbon? Is Chabad Shliach in Lisbon or Cascais? Any recommendations on things to see and do with family?

Chabad is in Cascais. I have a detailed Trip Report in the Portugal thread on Lisbon.
