It slows down the economic recovery so it has an indirect effect on everyone.

Obama and the liberals have been using this and "it will boost the economy" arguments for every policy they've ever pushed for. Look where they took us; 5 years after a recession, we are in middle of the slowest recovery in history. If anything, it's about time Obama realizes that he's the most unqualified president in history to decide what's good for our economy.

Ok so the Gov is shutting down.

All non-essential employees are laid off.

I have an idea, why dont they KEEP IT THAT WAY!!! What a waste of money all these non-essentials are, starting with EPA and going gown the list..... 8)

Wagner from MO-2 is a smart woman. She'll probably be the one to defeat McCaskill in 2018.

@Dave
Sounds like you've already been to the statue of liberty, but you don't feel it necessary for your kids to have a chance to see it.

You really want the government to operate on a regular basis as they do during the shutdown?

Not interested in visiting any parks?
Not interested in tax refunds?
Not interested in social security?
Not interested in Medicaid/Medicare?

People here are so narrow minded.

SS and medicare medicaid not affected I thought (heard on CNN) The biggest prob IMO for the republicans is that members of congress (minus the above post) will continue to "earn" their salary. Cut that and then tell others that they need to trim spending in other areas.

Every single democrat voted to keep their salary.

So at passport control today the cop makes a comment about "Aren't you glad there is a united states to come home to" at first I thought it was a joke/cute comment. He then proceeds to tell me that he ain't getting paid today and since he is an "essential" he is required by law to come to work!

But if it keeps on for a long time it'll ultimately affect other aread as well.
I was responding to the member who postes he doesn't have a problem with the govt running the way the did today. That comment was pure ignorance.
