Author Topic: 5 Towns/Rockaway Master Thread (Read 882013 times)

i moved in about 6 months ago, but i have learned to just not shop at Gourmet Glatt. the prices are ridiculous compared to seasons/kol save (let alone Trader joes and costco), and they dont even show pricing on their takeout counter. went in for burgers on sunday and they were 8.99 a pound vs. 4.99 at seasons, and there are similar differences on all their meat (though it is higher quality). i cant spend 8.99 on simple thin burgers to throw on the grill.

you should not be buying premade patties anywhere but i don't think that's the point of your post

Meat is cheaper at seasons. Everything else is generally less at gg. Costco and trader Joe's just don't have everything most people want. Kol save is a decent option.

KolSave used to be a decent option. But they have been slowly upping their prices, hoping people don't notice. In matter of fact, GG is cheaper on many items, especially on items which are on sale at GG. KolSave offers a few amazing deals each week. But the rest of the prices are going up. It's also not managed nearly as good as the other stores. They are often out of stock on many items.

Seasons is only cheap on meat. And that's because they sell garbage meat. Both in quality and in Kashrus. Nothing else there is priced even close to GG.

Quality of seasons meat is not as good as gg, but I wouldn't call it garbage. Many people would probably prefer to pay much less in exchange for lesser quality. As far as kashrus, what are you referring to?

The food shopping choices in the 5 towns are abysmal

Everything in the 5T is grossly overpriced.

But it really irks me that GG has the chutzpah to sponsor the "pesach for the rebbaim" etc.. as if they have such a heart of gold. How about make your prices normal so everyone would be able to afford it and then there wont be a need to sponsor!

But were preaching to the choir, the trend is only getting worse. A freind of mine recently moved from queens and she said the pesach prices in queens are still less then the daily prices here. $:-\$

I don't know if they do or not but I like to go to the store when I shop as opposed to having an employee do the shopping
