I have no horse in this race, but I am delighted that the court chose not to get involved with the rabble-rousers under the guise of frumkiet who are ready to bring this to secular court (and then complain about secular involvement in education)

Amazing how you comment without even knowing the facts. Do you know which establishment I am talking about? Do you know when they closed? Do you know who was by the meeting and where it was?

No, I do not have to reveal all the details on a public forum. But just because you are not in on it, doesn't mean it has no merit.

Maybe you should get a better source of information. I will not be that source.

And btw, I do not believe most, or even any of the Rabonim who are members of the Vaad know what goes on on a day-to-day basis. They do not know what happened with this establishment at all. They just completely trust the administrators.

The law suit was brought by a local business owner who lost a lot of money. I do not know him, but I do not believe he walks around "in the guise of frumkeit". (He did happen to get permission from a Beis Din, but that is not pertinent to your comment)

As far as the documents read, no Rabbis or organizations were listed as plaintiffs. They do not seem to be involved in the case at all.

I am a lawyer. The lawsuit was terrible on many levels.

On the merits it got dismissed because of the First Amendment which really we didn't need a Court to tell us you can say what you want (whether people will listen is a different story).

My big issue with the lawsuit is I cannot support an establishment that is suing my local Vaad. The store doesn't need the local Vaad for me to trust the kashrus (that's a separate evaluation I make on a case by case basis) but if you are suing my Vaad I cannot support you no matter how delicious your chicken is. 

I really don't know what the owner was trying to accomplish except turn off some average people like like.

This is a very important point. What was he trying to gain? The next question this leads to is whether it was really him or was he the face man for others and, if so, what benefit was he expecting to get?
