KRM can be more profitable because they are already buying huge volumes at great prices for their large KRM & Moisha's stores.
So if their purchases start off cheaper, and maybe they have some good employee training, then they can still charge less on the shelves and make more money.

Neither of us know the numbers, but is it so hard to believe that KRM simply didn't think it was worth the investment, and the cost if the repairs was the straw that broke the camel's back?

Not true Brachs was full. Many reasons why they closed. But wasnt because lack of customers. The issue is ther is no were else to shop because GG wont let anyone else come in. Thats what everyone is complaining about. No one in BK is complaining about Pomegranate because you can just go shop in KRM

Of course its possible but still hard to blv. 5towns has 1000s of families waiting to shop at a store like KRM also IF they were told or even hinted by GG that if they move in they will drop their price then of course it wont be worth their investment.

maybe but i dont feel bad. If they were such good ppl and loved doing chesed they would help their OWN customers who cant afford to buy food instead of sponsoring little league etc.

Let me get this straight. When Brachs was around GG had their inflated prices and was doing tremendous amounts of chessed. As you said, You had no issues with their high prices and they weren't yet engaging in "evil" activities. Then Brachs closes krm attempts to open a store. For some reason krm backs out and you assume the worst and that gg is evil and greedily screwing all of the 5 towns. I'm inclined to at least be skeptical of such claims.

Also nothing technically wrong with charging inflated prices but if they are this massive chesed organizations as Ppl are claiming why not start at home?

My source at GG told me the KRM deal feel through because one of the principles of KRM was sick and they felt this was not the right time to focus on the Lawrence store. GG was approached by Yanki & KRM to see if a deal can be saved without anyone losing money and it was.

This area also has a ridiculous amount of options to go shopping (GG, Season, Frenkel's, Stop & Shop, Foodtown, Trader Joes and Costco) If people feel that is not enough, then go to Brooklyn every 2 weeks, stock up on meat and call it a day. Nothing wrong with buying groceries at 2 different locations.

Not any affordable options to buy kosher food.  Also it does seem odd that such a large Jewish community doesn't have an affordable option.

is it so odd that they don't have a grocery store with as cheap prices as in Brooklyn and Lakewood ? How do the rest of the prices in the 5 towns compare to prices in Brooklyn and Lakewood?  Take tuition for example, isnt it much cheaper than in the 5 towns ? How about clothing stores? Resteraunts ?  day camp ?
