How do you find out about incentives and programs for residential home improvements, like solar energy, roofing, etc? (Nassau County) Anything worth taking advantage of now?
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

I think that in some past years, some people picked up fancy donughts from Brooklyn (and maybe other places) for a delivery fee. Is anyone doing that this year? Or are there any local places that sell fancy donughts (with topings on top). Thanks.

Elegant Desserts is having a pop-up store in Rita's (I think) and somebody else (maybe Sesame) is selling their donuts in Berrylicous. I saw both advertised in this past week's Jewish Home.

Anything worth checking out?

Here’s my 2 cents worth of the couple which I’ve tried:

1. Hibachi— the show is fun and the prices are reasonable, but the food itself is nothing special. I found it to be a little too salty, even for Chinese food, and the other people in our table mentioned that as well. I didn’t get any appetizers, but the mains are just unseasoned proteins, and the rice has margarine, soy sauce and egg. Keep in mind that if you are a smaller group, they will put you together with other people at one table. All that being said, I did go two times already, once just with my wife, and the second time with my extended family for Hanukkah, and I would consider going back for another large special occasion, but I would not go back there on a date night.

2. Crave— the food was good but nothing special. At this point, there are probably 5 to 10 other restaurants in the Five Towns serving the same style of food. They also have waiter service and add a gratuity to the bill, which is strange for a restaurant of this style and size. At that price point, I might as well go to Barbacoa.

smash house is the best value of the bunch, but u may have already tried it in one of their other locations. their fake cheese outshines any other fake cheese i've tried, and their family specials for $75, the philly cheese steak for $18 and the simple single smash (with cheese) for $7 when u have a hankering are some of the best kosher values filled with flavor. Also tried smash burgers from graze and holy and while good, they just dont reach the Smash House level (and cost more).
Hibana is for birthdays, all about the show and thats priced into the food costs which without the show would be 30% lower.

Funny, you say that, I’m at smash right now, and they don’t allow me to order the family combo because it’s busy. Obviously makes no sense since we are able to order all those items separately, but I guess they don’t want to give deals when they have a full house. Does not seem right to me when they have it advertised on their menu and people can be coming in specifically for that deal.

Ok review of smash house and crave:

Smash house: I ordered the coveted smash burger. Psa: order a double burger, bc 1 is small enough you won’t even see it in the burger. Honestly I don’t understand the hype of a smashed burger. The flavor was fine but it was a little dry-ish. I guess that’s what happens when you squeeze the juices out of a burger  :o. Haven’t tried other things yet. (ETA: apparently it’s very delicious food I’ve heard multiple reports here I just haven’t visited since)

Crave: did anyone realize it’s a waitered restaurant? Why? I don’t feel I need my club sandwich and poppers served to my table.. so it’s kind of pricey prob better to take out. Ordered some burger and tastes fine too nothing crazy. Honestly better at holy shnitzel, and cheaper. (ETA: agree with @Agoldsc1 on this above, barbacoa way better)

I’m generally more positive with new places but these where the things that stood out to me.

I need to replace a 3 zone switching relay on my gas boiler. Anyone know a reasonable place that can do it?
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I agree that they have the right to give and take away specials, but not whenever they feel like it. They would be within the rights to limit the days and hours that they are available (as most restaurants do), but they should honor them during their valid hours, and not reject them just because they can make more selling the items individually.

In any event, I didn't chap initially that the store is called "Smash Burger" because they literally smash their burgers. I don't understand that concept--the patties are then dry, well-done, and almost crunchy. Maybe there is a marker for that, but I prefer a juicy medium-rare burger, so doubt that I'll be heading back too soon, especially at $18 for a small burger and fries.
