IMPORTANT! Israeli Money Changers NOT accepting US checks
« on: October 03, 2013, 08:43:16 AM »
Israeli money changers are not accepting US checks for the time being. The US gov. shut down all the money changers accounts and you can no longer cash checks here!!! This has nothing to do with the Shutdown.

For those of you still in the US bring in cash don't rely on Checks for now. They are working on a solution but when they have it it will probably cost upwards of 3% to cash a check!

You may be able to find some places that are taking 5% for large checks...  >:(

I had checks going through Jordan (about 5 years ago) at no extra charge. I think they have just become spoiled at the ease of things now, that when it reverts they suddenly want to jack up prices.

I don't think it would work without a US ip address. Not like it would help anyways, as others have noted.

I've  been here (Israel)  for the past year, and I've used both the chase and TD apps for mobile deposits, up to $2500.

and print the money? :o
and if you have a standard td account, it's free to swipe in this country,  and ATM withdrawals will cost you $2 per transaction .

If you have premier checking,  then ATM withdrawals are also free.
WHY NOT?!?!

Or a fidelity debit card then it's also free

USAA checking has free wire transfers from other bank accounts and no ATM charges I'm not sure why you were even paying the 3%

doesn't seem like he knows what he is talking about
Nope, it doesn't look like anyone really knows as the people involved are doing what they need to and keeping their mouths shut.
