Bad Radio Reception
« on: October 03, 2013, 06:48:05 PM »
What would be the easiest/cheapest way to get better radio reception in my car?

The radio reception in Lakewood is driving me nuts :'(

;) No, it's a repeater for Hatzalah (I don't remember where I read that).

So maybe my first try would be to go with a new antenna.

How much would a good quality antenna go for?

How about installation, is that simple?

Thanks

Why not go to a local mechanic shop and ask for suggestions and installation cost I still believe that might be your best choice

I listen mostly to 1130, sometimes 880, 770, and 98.7 FM.

The reception is bad usually in the same spots, and many times it's very bad even in open areas, like the 9 near Walmart.

ETA: Guess we all hate the 9 :)

AM is going to be harder to increase than FM.

Darn it. Is it possible though, and if so, how?

If you are a do-it-yourselfer, try doing a google search.  Here is a place to start. ehow.com/m/how_5101520_improve-car-radio-reception.html
Otherwise, go to CSO.
Bottom line is, you can get better signal but it will cost you time and (either a little or a lot) money.

I have issues in lkwd in the same spots -  near the tracks.
On hurly and South Clifton,  on James and Williams,  etc.

Maybe there is some sort of signal that is being given off that is interfering.

Anyone with the same observation as me?

No trouble with 101.5,  only with 770.
