tlv-yyz using aa points
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:18:34 AM »
I need a round trip ticket from yyz (Toronto) to tlv sometime this week (16-19) and returning between the 22-29 for my father. (I am making a bris this coming Shabbos in Ramat Eshkol, details to follow) I have a departure on the 18th direct with ElAl using 45000, but they say there is nothing available returning with ElAl, BA, Iberia or anything else. Any ideas? Is there anything I can tell them to try? Or other way to get a one way back? Or secrets on finding availability?

The best time to check for availability is about half hour past midnight at the place of origin.

Thanks Dan. My father is a rebbe and his first day is the 30th, so the 29th really is the latest he can leave  :(  We'll keep trying.

I have 18th direct and return the 26th at 12:20am to ewr but only connecting from lga to yyz (there's also a flight to jfk but no available connections after it gets in). I'm trying to figure out a flight that my father doesn't have to change airports. Also, if I can find something leaving before Wed. the 18th at 1pm from yyz - either mon. eve. or tuesday  that would make my father happier.
Thanks to you all.

whats the problem grab the flight to JFK and for a few $$ he can grab a taxi to LGA or take the bus for I think $15 or $18, there are cheaper ways but it doesnt sound as if he will be up for it

come on you gotta read before you reply

no available connections means no available connections - no lga. So yeah he can take a car service from ewr to lga but that's a lot more than 15 bucks. Either way, I have that on hold right now.

I think he's saying that only from the EWR flight can he make the LGA connection.
But I agree, grab that while you can and take a EWR-LGA shuttle or taxi if time doesn't permit.

depending how much time between flights , a person can do the transfer for a few $, just dont have much in the way of bags. Its Public transport a bus from EWR to the Path station , Path into NYC then a subway up to the M60 bus

 http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php/NYC_Airports_to_Manhattan_Transportation_FAQ

you just have to look up EWR-NYC and NYC-LGA

I know a few people who have done it and said if you arent loaded down with checked bags its very doable

I guess the EWR gets in at 6am and the JFK sometime in the afternoon, forgot LY only gets into EWR at 6am
