From the terms and conditions it seems like they are only giving 2g data.

They will offer better speeds for a fee.

That's a lot less than VZW.

Well it's $25 per 100MB if you add that option.

I haven't been able to find it on the tmobile site. I read about it here: http://bgr.com/2013/10/10/t-mobile-free-international-roaming-analysis/

About half way down in the article

found this but i cant see the pricing..i beleive the 50 for 500mb is the standard usa data usage which can also be upped to 60/2.5gb per month
*** Included data at up to 2G speeds. High-speed data passes available for purchase.

With your plan you get unlimited international data at 2g speeds. To get faster international internet its $50 for 500mb.

This is from a cnet.com article:
"For $15, a customer gets a single day's worth of high-speed data up to 100 megabytes, while $20 gets one week at 200 megabytes and $50 gets two weeks and 500 megabytes"

Why does it say "free calls" in the OP and subject? isn't it 0.20/min?

Even over 3g calls can be spotty IME.

So is the right play here for A/S/V folks to just signup for T-Mobile before you travel abroad and cancel when you return?

...There will be some limits for frequent travelers. Any trip abroad needs to be six weeks or less, and customers need to spend at least half their time in the U.S. in any three-month period. The program is not for students spending a year abroad, for instance.http://www.vosizneias.com/143183/2013/10/10/new-york-t-mobile-to-eliminate-international-data-fees/

How can they know if the person is abroad or not, for example for someone in israel just get two PAYG sims and keep switching every six weeks ?

It isn't worth it for someone in Israel anyways. It's limited 2g data while you can get an ultra cheap unlimited 3g plan.
