T-Mobile Free calls and data in foreign countries including israel

I'm still with ATT old plan of Unlimited Data for $30 per month, is it worth to switch to T-Mobile?(I will lose the ATT unlimited data plan if I switch to Tmobile).

So I used the tmobile for texting the US, emails and browsing and waze while in Israel and it worked very well for the most part.

I had a Golan card that I used for calls, since I didnt want to pay .20 min for calls. Also, if you are trying to talk to Israelis they may not have a way to call a US phone number.

Is it possible to use the data access on the phone for calls also? Is there a good app that would allow free or cheap calls? Incoming and outgoing?

used it in israel! just keep looking that its not changing to the PA network this will cost you a fortune!!! i dialed regular to the US and 054/252/ to israeli numbers no 011-972...

Scanned through the thread. I want to make sure I understand correctly. If I have a t-mobile and am going to Israel, I could place phone calls to America for .20 a min and text for free and use my regular internet (just it might be slightly slower). Does it cost when people call me? Does google maps or the waze app work in Israel?

.20 per minute for in and out. You need to be on a postpaid plan. Ie, simple choice plan. 3 posts up wrote how data worked well.

if they didn't pull your credit (the account holder) it won't work

If you use wifi calling (when you have wifi of course) you can call the US and receive calls from the US for free, I believe. No need to have a separate app. Just make sure the phone says T-Mobile WIFI in addition to the usual WiFi symbol.

That's not true. I have a Verizon Iphone 6 plus that I use on T-Mobile. Wifi calling works fine on it. I use it every day.

I know I've asked this before but has anyone done an actual speed test while in Israel using the T-Mobile free data? It seems that most are reporting getting 3g speeds recently but I'm really looking for actual speed numbers. I use the Speedtest.net app from Ookla.

I'm wondering if I'll have enough speed to stream music and potentially video, though I don't really need the video. True 2g speeds at 128 Kbps is probably not enough to stream decent quality music. But if one gets anything above 1 Mbps music should be fine.

Could be unique to the iphone. I can't say for sure. I just know that the iphone 5s, 6 and 6 plus, all from Verizon, work perfectly on the T-mobile network including wifi calling. I can't say for other phones.

Thanks. Another data point should help. Although it does seem to vary by country and even city. Seems like some places get limited to true 2g speeds at 128 Kbps like my wife got in Toronto and some places have solid 3G speeds.
