SPG hotel help

Hello,

If one wants to book an international SPG hotel and one has an SPG card, what is the best way to maximize the points? My guess is that you cannot use hotel.com and get the SPG 5x - or can you?

Unless you're getting a decent discount from hotels.com or orbitz always book via SPG.com if you want to maximize your benefits and status.

I'm 2 stays short of Gold. I may be staying at an SPG soon the same night that a friend of mine is going as well. Is there a way that I can book both a room for myself and a room for my friend and have it count as 2 stays?

You don't have the platinum card? If yes it gives automatic (when you call in) gold status..

Just call up and ask for Gold. Works more often than you think.

It's not guaranteed. Every time I called, I was told no.

Not sure about booking them together. To avoid any issues I'd just book them as separate reservations.
IINM you can get credit for up to 3 rooms/stays a night.

Ah! So sorry! I read that as "you don't have the card"? Meaning the SPG card.

I do not have a Plat card. So, for me, I either have to make the stays or call up and try to get it like MP said.
