sprint $35.00 exchange/restocking fee
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:52:02 PM »
My wife has just upgraded her phone last week to the samsung restore. She is unhappy with the sensitivity of the touchpad. She is still within sprints 30 day guarantee and she would rather the exclaim. Has anyone ever had the $35.00 restocking fee waived?

Never heard of a $35 fee to begin with...
Must be one of Sprints new "mean" policies.

Yes, its especially easy to get out of if you're within the first thirty days.
To save you time, instead of routing your call to India and then back to the USA, just dial 1-5-6 when calling *2.

What if you do a return instead of an exchance? Same fee?

I barely ever get Indians, I guess it because I'm on a business acct.

If you have a special zechus for having a business account it shouldn't be "barely ever", it should be never, otherwise you're just getting lucky.

I recently opened a premier account, never bothered to try and see if I have a special zechus or not, I always call the finance dept. (as I've done for years) even if its for the stupidest thing.
They always ask "Are we at risk of losing your service today?" I always answer "Not at all, just calling customer service, why you ask? ;D

I prefer not to say never (too absolute), but I can't remember the last time I spoke to an Indian Sprint rep.

That's not finance, it's retention a/k/a acct. services.

You're right, I meant to say the account managers. Thanks for correcting.

Yah, I'm pretty sure the business accounts get routed to the same call center as everyone else. Unless they have a direct number special for biz, but, again, that's highly doubtful.

Before i had posted this thread i had spoken to a few customer reps on waiving the exchange fee and they all claimed that once the phone has been activated it is impossible to waive. So i suggested to them to then give me a $35 credit towards my next bill and they wouldn't do iteither. One of them gave me the number for sprint executive customer service and a contact name and she would help me. Anyway she was stubborn as well. But then i called retentions as you guys advised and she was very eager to help me and gave me a credit of $35 towards my bill. i guess retentions is the way to go!!

It does not mean that exec. doesn't have the power to do it, it's just that that's not what they're there for.
