« on: May 30, 2008, 06:44:12 PM »
levi is it worth it to give 7000 spg points to stay one night in a sheraton
to complain after and try and get back in return ?
and to try to get gold statues?

as far as gold status just call up spg and tell them you have the amex platinum and one of the benefits are spg gold they may ask you for a promotion code tel them you have the card for 5 years and you didnt save the code you really should not have a problem

as far as upgrades in this property even as a platinum there are'nt any maybe just a city view with a balcony, I cant tell you what to do but if its just a difference of 3,500 I wouldnt make an issue out of it, if you tell me that you want to stay there for a week then you can probably pull something off

The sheraton jerusalem will not give you any sort of upgrade with gold status even platnium rarely get any special service there.

Sorry ash but I gotta take issue here. Especially in Israel I don't think you can do this according to Halacha. Try to be a mentch & complain only if theres a problem, but don't make up your story before you even get there because thats stealing & a Chilul Hashem. (Yes, they do know it's a story)

but hotels in israel even the sheraton is not as good as a best western here in the states
so for 7000 credits i already know that i will be dissapointed and since it cost me alot to get those points (since i already transfered 20,000 to aa)
yes i could complain in advance
and if you wanna tell me dont stay there
i just need a place to put my head down in jerusalem

I stayed at Sheraton Jerusalem in January for 3 nights using points. Being that it was about $200 per night, the miles value on that was about 2.85cents; not terrible. The hotel is ok. As far as I know, even plat you will rarely if ever get anything there (I was gold and got nothing). They are currently renovating a bunch of floors in that hotel as well, so there was some noise on one side of the hotel during the day. All in all, I thought it was ok.

The 7,000 Starpoints rate DOES NOT include breakfast.
Breakfast is an additional $10 per person per day.
We has an issue with something that we complained about when we checked out and they waived the fee for our breakfasts.

I just booked this property for Succos. Every fifth night free 10 nights 56,000 points. I think 5,600 points per night is a good deal especially when the are selling the rooms for about $450 a night for that time of year. If anyone has a better idea please let me know.

Thats a great deal, especially for Succos.
I doubt that you can find anything better than that.
