Anyone ever try chargesmart.com?
« on: August 15, 2010, 04:00:46 AM »
www.chargesmart.com

They seem to be a company that will allow you to pay your mortgage, auto loans, lease payments, student loans etc. with a credit card. The catch is that they charge a fee. It looks like the fee is different depending on who you are paying...I tested a few of them out and the lowest fee i saw was 22.95...

Anyone ever use them before? Just curious...I was thinking of using them to meet spending thresholds.

Thanks!! Cause if this works I can get a lot of miles about 120k a month. Does someone use them or know if they are reliable?  (I found one for $35)

Looks like mortgage, student loan, and utility payments cost $27.85 to make a $1,000 payment.
Auto payments seem to be a flat $10-$15 fee depending on the payee.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It depends on who you are paying it to (for the mortgage at least). My mortgage company (Chase home finance) with a $1000 payment came out to $22.95

Anyone try this yet? I think im gonna go for it.

If i make 10 mortgage payments of $1000, that would take care of my spending 10k on my new AA CC. 10 payments of $1000 would cost me $230 in fees but would easily take care of meeting the spending threshold.
The annoying part is that they only gave me credit line of $1000 (probably because i have alot of credit on other citi cards) So to make a $1000 payment, i would only be able to pay $977.05 + the fee for a total of 1k. Id have to pay the rest of mortgage separately each month.

How bad would that be to max out the card for 6 months straight? I assume they would give me a larger credit line in 6 months.

Being that they don't report CL I think its a good idea to max out first month, and then pay down part before the statement closes later on.

Good point! Truthfully, i can just pay down all of it as the funds i would have used to pay my mortgage are there already...

discover will refund the charge for utility payments.  for me, it's useful only for electricity and it looks like the payment isn't immediate so that would be something to be aware of.

oh, they also have some $10 fee refunds in different categories.
