Correct.

If you hurry up and do it now, you will be able to get the $200 airline credit for this year.
It will reset it January

Yup (although there are some troubles being reported on that end ).
Keep in mind the $450 AF..
Cancel within 60 to avoid that, or prorated if you cancel afterwards.

IMO, there will be another 50K offer for the Plat, but by upgrading you will avoid getting a new TL, which IMO is worth it for the upgrade
IMO, do both. What do you mean by another 50k offer? The standard offer is 40k, and the targeted offer is 100k.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

So get the personal platinum with 100k/3k offer, then upgrade this, spend 5k, and get 150k. When does offer expire?

Tradeline, or line of credit. Basically, an additional account on your report.

What problems? is pggm no more working?
also is it safe to do that, to downgrade or cancel before 60 days just to grab signup offer, isent amex getting upset if you do that too much? I did that already twice on other cards

There haven't been problems reported doing that, and people have done it dozens of times. The airline credit system seems to be having issues.

The standard offer is 40K, but there would be non targeted targeted promotional offers that offer 50K in the future.

Plus if you go ahead and get the card now, you'll get the $200 airline credit this month and in January again. You'll get the AF waived in January and you won't get a new TL reporting.

And if you decide to cancel the card in Jan. At least it will show that you closed the card after a year as per compared to 60 days. It looks a whole lot better.

I personally don't like playing these games... But it could be done

Once you get the card once, you can't get the bonus again with a standard offer. That would be unnecessarily forfeiting 100k. You really think closing the card has a negative impact on your report (besides for dragging down AAoA, pity amex doesn't backdate anymore)?

As per the 100K offer, it depends how you value the points... That's for a different discussion

If you constantly close cards excessively and in short time frames, it doesn't look that great.

You can sell for $1400, for arguments sake.

You're talking in terms of FICO effect or manual review?

but if I downgrade it before 60 days, is it also not the best thing?
