how can you rent a car with a cc not in your name?

just get the acc holder to be the primary on the rental and you as a second driver

I have no personal experience with this, but with the experience I do have with renting, I highly doubt that it'll work with hertz.

Well i do have personal experience with this, and it works.
However huge Data Point: I'm good friends with the Hertz Manager where i did this.

I highly doubt that this would work at any hertz location without being hooked up in said branch

DDMS post about reactivating expired miles mentioned crediting car rental to any millage account. I don't have any expired miles, but I do have a rental from about 10 months ago that I wouldn't mind getting miles for. Is there an appropriate thread for this?

You may be able to sell it to someone needing to reactivate their miles.
