Start slow and build up over a few weeks you should be fine. It also depends if there is real spend or mostly MS.

Some claim that using that too often is an F/R trigger.

I've heard the same thing.

Just giving the poster a suggestion if he has a large charge.

If that's the case then applying for an Amex card is also an FR trigger so don't apply! I mean what isn't a FR trigger?

Also- careful with how often you log into your chase account.

Is there any reason not to let a cardholder on your acct use the card for renting a car?

The rental company may charge the card. Which is why I asked if you trust the person (to pay you back).

I have an old citi dividend card as my oldest card, is there any reason not to close my first amex (spg) card? I have a biz SPG, any reason to keep both open? Just got the AF on personal SPG

I've heard that before. Is there really any truth to that?

Any card worth using specifically to pay for taxes/fees for an award ticket? Not from the standpoint of points earning, just wondering (though I'm assuming not) if any would cover some sort of trip / baggage protection if used...
Coming in late here but IINM, you must pay for the whole ticket (not just taxes/fees) to get covered for the baggage, etc.
