I sent in a check to amex to pay off a cc bill on Thursday (third party check not sure if that makes a difference). I just realized I didn't make it out to amex it was left blank. What should I expect?

I'd be making sure I got a minimum payment set up just to be safe

Thanks for your reply. The bill is not due yet I just wanted to pay it off already. Anybody know what they would do with the check? Should I try calling to have them fill out for me?

My guess is that they would apply it.  But just a guess

Is there a .com on the back of the card that you can go to?
Yes, but there is no option to set a pin. Guess it won't work.

I wouldn't risk a late payment over a guess.

I called the rep said he doesn't see the payment yet. (I thought it should've been there already). So i asked him if they would accept it he put me on hold for a minute came back and said he looked into it and amex policy is as long as it has the account #'s on it they would accept it. Time will tell...

He can do whatever he wants  So can you. .

I said if it was me,  I would be getting a minimum payment processed to cover myself.  That's how I handle my finances.

What anyone else does is their own choice/business.

And remember,  DROPR.  I'm not letting some frontline CSR possibly get me a late.

Obviously.  It didn't seem from OP's post there was a risk of being late,  you said that you wouldn't risk being late.

Really I can count on one hand the number of checks I've written to pay CC's in the last number of years.

And I've never forgotten to fill out the payee field.   I mean there's  date,  payee,  amount,  amount in words,  memo for account/invoice number and signature.  It's pretty easy.

As i mentioned in op it was a third party check so everything else was filled out...

Just to double check my understanding - the clock for sign up bonuses starts when you are approved, or when you activate the card? TIA
Approved

I posted here: http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=15088.msg1612349#msg1612349 but I doubt anyone reads that thread, so checking in on this one

I want to ask for a product change on the United Club card. Would like Sapphire Reserve, as I'm over 5/24, and benefits are better than United Club card.

From the thread above, it seems the only card I can request to change to is free United card? Is that the Explorer card?
While we're on the topic, could I product change away from the useless Marriott and Fairmont cards I have?

Thanks

Chase has a free United card that is only available to downgrade, no new applications.

I opened up an ihg card for my wife but now realize that the points are posting to my ihg account as i used the dummy booking link from my account to apply for her- will this be a problem if it hasnt been 24 months since I got the bonus? Should i have them change it and move to her account?

It shouldn't be, because you applied with her SSN. They may cause problems, but if they do it can easily be clarified, and like u suggested u can just move it to her account...

I posted here http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=33921.msg1613950#msg1613950 but no one reads that so:

Why do all my Bank of America applications show 'Your application is in review' status when I look online, even though one is active in my online banking, and the other I already received the declination letter in the mail?
