They didn't slip me a note on the counter that said "pay up or else..."

It was like "we want to make sure you can pay that amount...you don't have much history on this account... we gotta see what we're gonna do..." type thing

I got a call from Amex (800-453-2044) asking for payment in full on LARGE credit card balance (new account) not due yet. Rep I spoke with wanted to put me to pay balance in full or put me in in FR. I talked her out of it and she wanted me to schedule payment on the "please pay by date". Rep told me that they are a small team in Ft Lauderdale and they specialize in large accounts. My payment won't be ready until a week after the please pay by date. I did confirm that I can call and cancel the payment "and reschedule to different account". What is my best option? Would she get an alert that I cancelled the payment?

Sounds like a scam to me.

I didn't login to my account but I got email about scheduled payment. They knew the total I owed on my cc, name etc. The only thing I gave them was my security pin. I didn't even give them my bank account number, I told them to charge last account I made payment from.

Right, I was hoping to avoid an FR. My idea was to cancel payment and schedule new one for a week later on 1 phone call. This way in case a little red light goes off in FR land they'll see new scheduled payment and cover the red light with piece of tape.

On true caller it comes up as Amex credit services (something like that) but when you put in the number on Google it doesn't look good.

Woah! why didn't u mention that before? Just tell them u were already frd this year and you passed...u shud be good to go

I get FR every year and they put hard limits on my card. So after I get FR I just apply for new plat/biz gold and get another 100k credit. I don't want them to limit my new plat

It was reported up thread that if ur within a year of FR u shud be fine, just tell them that u already passed a FR this year
