Freeze EX and then app whoever you want.

AMEX always wants EX.  Chase and Citi are state dependent and usually wont budge.

BofA,  USB,  FNBO can all be nudged to different CRA's if EX is frozen.

Thanks. Don't they charge to freeze and/or unfreeze a report? I'm not really looking to app for anything in particular, but it would be nice, occasionally, to have EQ or TU pulled instead.

Some states are free,  some charge.  When you freeze a report you can get a pin which works with AMEX,  Chase and Citi.

And who cares if they charge $10.  If it helps you get approved its part of the cost of doing business.

ETA: I'm pretty sure i had to unfreeze EX for Wells Fargo.  Only time I've had to actually unfreeze the CRA as opposed to providing a pin.

If someone has a pre-approval & applies online (using Dan's link OC) will that cause the pre-approval to disappear ? (Assuming they weren't approved)
Doesn't really matter anymore. Got the 30 day message, just logged in & vualá, it's showing.

Closing a card WILL NOT affect your score unless it changes your utilization in a meaningful percentage (which is a moot point when discussing AMEX chargers.
He was discussing average age of accounts, not CL ratio.

FICO only cares about AAoA.  That takes into account all accounts regardless of open or closed,  even if they are negative.

CreditKarma and other meaningless skores factor in AAoOA.  But they're meaningless so who cares?

So again,  Closing a card WILL NOT affect your score unless it changes your utilization in a meaningful percentage (which is a moot point when discussing AMEX chargers.

My bad I forgot that it doesn't matter if they're closed.

-1, They pulled TU for me in N.Y.

Chase and Citi are state dependent and usually wont budge.
-0.5, Citi will pull EQ in N.Y. If EX frozen, if unfrozen they'll pull ex or both.

How many times has AMEX pulled only TU for you?  Last year at one time their EX connection was broken an they pulled TU for a couple days.  I know a lady who got AMEX cards with only a TU hit, but that's about the only time I've heard of it.

I have had AMEX pull TU on occasions where I've done a 3-for, but that was on top of pulling EX.  It also could be something they do when EX is frozen and you give them  pin, but I don't have any way to substantiate that...it's just my speculation.

Couple months ago, called in to give ex pin, guy tells me 'no need for pin, I've already pulled your report..' then received alert that my tu was pulled.

Interesting.  I know someone who got three AMEX products a couple months ago and didn't get a single hard pull out of it.   Maybe they were broken again.

Hi everyone (Gut voch?), been lurking here a while as a guest, and really learned a lot.
My Q: i just opened a useless credit card (kinda by accident, long story) a couple days ago. problem is that this new CC is my 5/24 and my 5/24 status will only fall off in about 6 months.
If i cancel the card now, before the first statement posts, will it be recorded on my credit history?
Thanks alot!

When you say credit reports would credit karma work? Or should I go back to the actual credit unions?
