How does work if I buy something pay the bill get the points then get a refund? Do they take the points? Is it YMMV? Does it differ by card? What about ink? Thanks if I'm asking in the wrong place TimT please show me the way

Different banks work differently but doing too much of that is asking for trouble.

hey so the title implies this might be where the q should go...
Looking for advice on next CCs to open. Not into doing a lot of churn for 8-9 cc  back to back to rack up bonuses. I currently have an ink and a united card. Looking for 1-2 cards that have bonus cats in the following: groceries, restaurants, and cabs/uber. for hotel i know im getting 2x from ink already.

I know dan's been pushing the amex everyday reg/preferred card for some of those cats. Anyone have any suggestions? Would a hotel card by good or Amex or Sapphire or something? tx

This post breaks it down which card is best for each category.
(Just curious why you only want 1-2 cards. Is it all the spend required or mortgage coming up ?)

Even with many cards you could still have a great score. But if you have a mortgage coming up you should take it easy with new cards.

I never saw a bank that let's you keep the points after doing a refund, unless your talking about bonus points.

With chase they say its best early morning or late night. Shouldn't be a hard pull but just double check with them.

No, unless they tell you otherwise
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Does Amex still allow points advance when transferring MRs? I remember this from a long time ago, but couldn't find current info on it....

Seems like my search bar is screwed up, anyone have success getting amex to change  blue sky to another account type such as EDP, they won't budge with me

How can I know the exact date I "have" to pay my amex charge card?
Is it a coincidence that all the charge cards I have with them have the same closing and please pay by date?

It has to be paid up when the next statement closes.
