Why don't you call and have them remove it? It takes a few minutes

Do you think that what they see without further searching?

Here's my situation:
I'm going to do the spending on my new CSP tomorrow but the statement closes 2/20 so I'm within 7 days... What do I do to get the signup bonus this month?
Change closing date to 7 days after the spend posts.

How does reporting income work?

 1) Are they comparing it to the last time you reported income?

2) Do people just report what they feel like?

However much you reported on your taxes, no? :P
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Lol, I was joking.
Seriously speaking, if you're over 21, you can include any income that can be counted upon to pay the bill. If you are supported by others, you can put down their income. This includes household income for many of the students here on DDF, and probably the shver for a chunk too. The only ones that may ask you to verify your income after approval is amex (commonly known as an FR, or financial review). Many people pass those, even with tax documents that show less income than reported (albeit with spending limits imposed).
If you default on your bills, and your income reported was completely fraudulent, then there was a story of a bank that pursued criminal action. This is incredibly  uncommon, highly unlikely to happen if you pay your bills, and not a problem if you're reporting existent income, even if it's not your own.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

In order to keep the utilization rate low, by when should I pay off the bills: By the statement date, or the closing date?

Before statement closing date. Not sure what your 2 options are.

Pay up latest a few days prior to when the statement prints.

Why a few days before? What's wrong with the day before?

Because depending on the bank, sometimes it won't post in time.

I never had a problem with Amex. And I have done it just a few hours before the statement was to be printed.

I've paid once on a Charge card on the day of closing and it posted next statement. I was even charged a late fee because there was still a small balance from the month before. They said it's because it was paid after 8 PM.

But this thread isn't only about AMEX now is it?   Keep waiting till the last minute to do stuff,  and you eventually will have an unfavorable outcome.
