I know more about the credit side of this game than you probably think.
OK you win
Can you explain the difference of them automatically merging two pulls on the same day to merging two pulls on different days on the basis that it's a duplicate?

I'm not trying to "win."

Using a trick to get inquiries deleted, no matter what you call it, is not merging inquiries.  Maybe just semantics to many here, but not to me.

And stuff like this being discussed openly is what kills loopholes.

Why do you think B* was talked about in code on CB for years?  And it still died eventually (mostly).

Because one is merging and one isn't.

Should I open an AU card for my daughter who is 7 months old so that buy the time she's 18, she'll have a strong score? Or am I overthinking things?

Unless it's with Amex, it's a waste of time.

She'll inherit the exact same history whether you open it today or when she's about to turn 18.

How do you know that nothing will change in this regard 18 years down the line? 18 years ago, would you have said this about Amex?
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Would Amex let me take out an AU for a 7 month old?

Also, what you're saying only holds true if the other banks don't stop backdating AUs...

There is a master thread on CB somewhere with the age different issuers allow you to add someone as an AU. Look in the master of master threads somewhere for it.

Right, but there will certainly be a warning if this is going to happen. All card issuers aren't going to change policy overnight together.

Right. I hear that. But I feel like if a bank is currently backdating, I may as well just do it now and let it sit in my drawer...

Freeze her reports then.

You don't want to have an unmonitored prime score profile.

Having a credit profile with prime scores that you aren't keeping track of.

It is much easier for someone to open credit fraudulently than with a blank report.

You don't want to have someone with a prime credit report and score that is easily eligible for many prime credit cards if nobody is monitoring their report. Anyone can submit an application in their name with the wrong birthday, and you'd never know about it. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get an application approved with wrong info.

Ah, got it. Thanks for the explanation. So basically if I add her as an AU, call up all 3 CBs after and ask them to freeze her profile. I'm guessing that I can't moniter her profile on something like credit karma because IIRC, you have to be 18 to sign up.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I closed my Hyatt card in the beginning of February and reapplied for it 30 days later and got approved. Waiting for free nights to post, but Chase confirmed that the welcome offer is attached to the card.

I closed my HYATT and applied and got a new one 3-4 days later  the first week of March

Just be careful with not doing too many. I just learned that recon will count those as "opened accounts in the past x years"
Think away the box.

I don't think his 7 month daughter is crying all night because of 5/24 (although you never know).
