I thought so too, but I just downgraded my plat (within 30 days of AF posting) and got a pro rated refund.
Are downgrades different?

I dont understand what your confused about.  it simple and doesn't matter when your booking charge posted. to get prorated refund with cancelation, it needs to be within 30 of the AF posting.  cancelling after 30 days it's not prorated at all.
maybe this info should be put in the wiki for everyone to read (do people still do that thing around here ? ).
