Chase wrote in SM that bec he was charged AF on 01/01/17, he has until 03/02/17 to downgrade and get full AF back. Doesn't make sense?

+1 Chase SM sent me last week, that I have 60 days from AF charge for them to make adjustments
they don't look like they know what there talking about

Any reason for my friend to keep open Reserve card opened in December and got double dip at $300 travel credit and 100k bonus already not to close their card now and get $450 AF back? Seems like a better option than to leave open and get another $300 in December but pay the $450. Correct? Maybe I'm missing something? Thanks so much!

Just realized I should downgrade my Reserve card also - its already 5 months but still prorated is worth it as I'm not getting another $300 before next AF... When I downgrade, can I upgrade back to Reserve if I want (in order to be able to make transfers to airline) or will need to reapply?
