didn't realize that my wifes statement was closing. now it closed with 5k out of 8k utilization. how long does that info take to get reported to the CB's?
If it's Chase, if you pay in full, I think they report that so it may help fix the drop from the high utilization.

Chase AFs are charged on the first of the month.

My understanding was that utilization has no memory, so wouldn't that automatically be true no matter who the issuer is? All payments are reported to the CB aren't they?

If you PIF Chase will report mid-cycle.

yes. chase. apparently it didn't report yet. in fact the whole account hasn't been reported yet. brand new card, hence the confusion re closing date

Ah, if the card hasn't reported yet anyway you have nothing to worry about, just pay it down now.

How does it work when do they start reporting? Wouldn't they report the statement balance?

If the card hasn't even been reported to the CB's yet then your closing balance doesn't matter.

Anyone ever noticed that when downgrading a Chase card to Chase Freedom card, you retroactively get the 5% category points for purchases during that quarter? And you don't lose the bonus category points from the original card during that time... Pretty cool.

did anyone ever had on the AMEX application status site that by the card type it says 'dummy code' instead of the type card that you applied for?
I see this by a few people but only on the cards that they already had before......
originally my app said spg biz, but now it shows dummy code. first time app
