I'm undecided on what to do with my Citi Hilton no AF card. I have more than 5 years history on it that I don't want to lose, but if that history will be erased and credit reports will show a new account after the conversion, then I'd rather cancel the card. I already have 5 AMEX credit cards including the free Hilton card so I'm not worried about not being eligible for the bonus in the future. But I'm just under 5/24 and don't want a new AMEX card count against that. I realize nobody knows for sure what will happen in the conversion, but history is the best guide.

When AMEX Costco cards converted to Citi, what did the credit reports show? Did the AMEX history disappear?

i NEED To purchase around $40k worth of gift cards for holiday giveaways. Is there anyway I can purchase these using a credit card and finding gift cards that dont have fees associated with it?  My bank offered me free gift cards, but  I would have to pay with the money in my bank account...Any ideas how i can do this using a c.c and not paying fees>  thanks!

Gift cards other than Visa, Amex and MC do not have fees whether purchased with credit card, debit card, cash etc.

Do you have cc's that earn more than 1 point per dollar in certain types of stores?  for example, Ink gets 5ppd at office supply stores.
So buy store GCs at a shop that earns you extra points.

Friend of mine has Amex Delta Skymiles card for years. He doesn’t really want to close cuz he’s afraid he’ll lose years on his credit report. Is it stupid to downgrade to Amex Blue Delta and lost the opportunity for intro bonus on that?

Well the AF is 95 for that card and the intro bonus for delta blue is only 10k anyway so what u save on af would kind of cancel bonus (if he doesnt want to close card). If its his longest standing card it makes sense to downgrade.
