The first year after opening a credit card, it is common for the cc to wave the annual fee (AF), but rare for them to give you 0% interest.
Chase Slate gives 0% for the first 18 months.  (confirm this info)

A friend needs to raise his credit score to buy a house , does adding him as AU for my amex help him?

Can he mess me up in any way?

Adding him as an AU on an AMEX will hurt him.  AMEX AU cards report as new accounts the day you add the AU.

You need to add him to an aged Visa or Mastercard that has no utilization.

The trickier part is often the AU needs to be at your address for it to appear on the credit reports.

I'm undecided on what to do with my Citi Hilton no AF card. I have more than 5 years history on it that I don't want to lose, but if that history will be erased and credit reports will show a new account after the conversion, then I'd rather cancel the card. I already have 5 AMEX credit cards including the free Hilton card so I'm not worried about not being eligible for the bonus in the future. But I'm just under 5/24 and don't want a new AMEX card count against that. I realize nobody knows for sure what will happen in the conversion, but history is the best guide.

When AMEX Costco cards converted to Citi, what did the credit reports show? Did the AMEX history disappear?

The Citi account will say closed - account sold or transferred.

The new AMEX account should show the original opening date of the Citi account, so it should appear as a 5 year old aged tradeline which is a good thing.

Friend of mine has Amex Delta Skymiles card for years. He doesn’t really want to close cuz he’s afraid he’ll lose years on his credit report. Is it stupid to downgrade to Amex Blue Delta and lost the opportunity for intro bonus on that?

Why would he "lose years on his credit report"?

I have a Bankof Cash Rewards open in 2014 (was 1 of my first card) I rarely used it, the anuall fee on it is $39, I just realize that they offer the card with no fee, I called and was told by 2 agents that they can't remove the fee ..

what are my best option ?

HUCA.  Ask for supervisor.  Or product change to a TR.

Went inside the branch, and again was told same thing, can't downgrade or waive the fee.
Any other other suggestions what is best ?

The branch CSR's know absolutely nothing about AF's, product changes etc.

I'm trying to make sense of all this credit card info on DDF, but it's beginning to make my brain muddled...

I currently have just one credit card - the Discover It, as well as two store cards, and since I'm not into the whole miles and points thing, it's been working fine for me until now. Now I am looking to open a new card on which I can charge a couple thousand, over a month or two, and then not have to worry about paying the full amount right away. I don't particularly care about miles or points, but I don't want to have to pay an annual fee.

Do most credit cards offer 0% APR for the first year? If not, is there a good way to find out which ones do? It doesn't say anything about it on the comparison chart.

Call Discover and see if you can get a 0% promo for new purchases.  That would take care of you for 12 months.

You should get a couple more real credit cards for diversity and score increase.

Chase Slate gives 0% for the first 18 months.  (confirm this info)

Slate is generally 0% on balance transfers made with a limited time of opening the card.

There are plenty of 0% APR promo offers out there for new cards, and Discover will offer them on existing accounts occasionally.

Chase Slate, Chase Freedom, Chase Ink Cash all have 0% promo APR's.  Citi Simplicity always has like 21 months on new accounts for 0% promo APR's.  Several AMEX cards offer 0% promo APR's.  BofA etc etc etc etc

When spending on a DL card for the MQD waiver, how is it determined? Does the spend need to post on the December statement? Does it need to be made before January? Does it need to post before January?

I know... don't want to deal with the headache of managing all the cards and payments and stuff. And my credit score is at and has been "Very Good" for a while.

Okay, I'll do some more research and contact Discover. Thanks!

The time to build your credit/credit profile is when you DON'T need it.  Waiting until you do need it might be problematic.

Technically not. Rarely, people have reported issues before though.

Depends on the verification they use. Some or all of the address might need to match.
