Misc Credit Card Questions
« Reply #7800 on: June 05, 2018, 01:45:57 AM »
I mostly understand Citi’s 24 month rule to prevent churning of TYP cards but I’m not sure if it applies to my situation. I haven’t opened or closed any TYP cards in over 2 years, but earlier this year my Forward card was converted to TY Preferred. Did this reset my 24 month clock? FWIW, the card number did change.

The new credit card sending the payment will generally not verify whose account they're sending the payment to. In fact, some of them will give you the option to put the money in your bank account where you can do with it as you please and some will give you blank checks that you can write out to the other credit card. (I once did a balance transfer by phone. During the phone conversation, the rep used a soft pull of my credit report to determine which creditors I have balances with and how much those balances were. This streamlined the process, making it easier for them to avoid errors. I don't know for sure if they would have refused to send the payment to someone they didn't see on my credit report.)
A potential problem might be if your wife's credit card receives a payment that they could see did not come from her. This could happen if either your new credit card sends a check with your name on it (which they would do if they couldn't figure out how to do the balance transfer electronically) or if they gave you blank balance transfer checks that have your name on them and you use those. Although her credit card would accept the payment, they could take the third party payment to be a sign of her financial weakness and  take action to close or limit the account. This could be less of an issue if you are an authorized user on her account.

I wouldn't worry too much about this.
Especially if you're an AU on her cc.  But even if not, if you have the same last name and address, I don't think it's a problem.

Which Chase cards aren't part of the 2 card in 30 day rule besides the RC, or has the rule been broken?

I want to apply for Freedom Unlimited and Sapphire reserve, looking for a 3rd (and 4th) card.

Currently have only (2) regular Freedom on the personal level.

TIA!

I got the ink preferred 80k offer for my business last year (with ein number) but they've been sending me mailers with 120k offer recently. Can I use the invitation code for myself with my ssn as sole proprietor or is it only for my business with ein number?

(I'm assuming that I can't use the offer for my business since I have one already but I don't understand why they would send me the invite then)
