My wife’s AMEX Plat AF posted on 6/8. The plan is to cancel before 7/8 to get AF refund. But she just remembered that she has no other MR card and she isn’t ready to transfer the points to any program yet. The plan now is to apply for the Blue Business Plus card to keep the points active. My question is— the the ME programs combine the moment she’s approved and assigned a Business Plus card? Or does she need to receive the card first to activate the MR account? Or worse, does she need MR activity in the Business card first?

i have chase: ink, CSR, CSP, UA ,ritz
amex: bp ,gold, delta gold silver, both spg's

Is it still true then when downgrading Amex plat to green more than 30 days after the AF being billed you get a prorated credit? If yes, how long does it’s take?

I downgraded a couple of weeks ago and still didn’t receive a credit.

I closed my CSR a few months ago, any reason why I shouldn’t throw the card in the garbage? I usually rip up my cards before throwing away but this one is metal. Even if someone would find this card, is there anything they can do with it if the acct is closed?

Chase can send you a postage paid envelope to return the card to them to be destroyed.

Is there a way to deactivate a card (so no charges can go through) without closing it? In this case, it's my oldest card and I don't have any other cards with the bank (PNC).

Cut it up ?
Why not use your oldest card periodically to keep it active ?
