Applied for an Amex card that I never had and got the pop up message that I’m not eligible for the bonus because I opened and closed to many cards. Is this a 100% thingy?? YMMV?

Not 100% but quite likely you won't get it. Doc has written about it

Misc Credit Card Questions
« Reply #8624 on: May 28, 2019, 03:20:39 PM »
Hi,

So this is what's in my wallet.

- Chase Freedom (Used to be a Sapphire Preffered for 4 years, Just downgraded a few months ago)
- Chase Freedom Unlimited
- Chase Sapphire Reserve (Just opened a few months ago)
- Chase Ink Business Cash

The Freedom Unlimited card that I have in my wallet only gets the 1.5 Ultimate Rewards while the new Freedom Unlimited offers 3 points up to 20K in spending and then 1.5

This new offer is much better than my current Freedom Unlimited card. I use my Freedom Unlimited Card for everyday spending so I a giving up a lot of points with the old offer.

What do I do?
Close the card and open a new one?
Can I open a 2nd Freedom Unlimited Card under the same account?

Thanks in Advance!

the main value you get is welcome bonuses.
Is 3x on a new Unlimited on 1st 20k more then other welcome offers from cards you don't yet have?

Imo if you're looking for a new card, take advantage of a welcome offer and once you reach the minimum spend either look to get another card or go back to using the best card for each purchase.
Chase has great Biz card offers but if you only want personal cards maybe look into getting the 70k Barclays Arrival offer or really any other card with fine offers. Amex, Cap1, Citi, Barclays

Send a referral. The rest is self explanatory when you click through the link.

And no, there usually isn’t a hard pull, but YMMV
TYSM! Will I get the referral bonus too?

Yeh you’re right. Thx.

Anything I’m supposed to do before downgrading/closing out an Amex card? Besides moving credit line and asking for retention offer?

Make sure you have a way of keeping points alive. If it's a co-branded card, you're fine, if MR, make sure you have another MR card, or transfer out.

How long does it take credit bureau to register a change in card brand? For example if I switched my Chase Saphire Preferred to a Chase freedom Unlimited how long before it will show up as a freedom and not a sapphire on report ?

An eternity. That's not reported. Unless the numbers change then they report that.

I can only understand your question from the words you used...
Did you write you're only sticking with Chase?

So I wrote that better option for every day spend would be to get a $500 welcome bonus for a Chase ink card (probably Ink Unlimited would be best for every day spend) or get any other new card with a decent offer.

If you're specifically only asking how to get x3 with freedom Unlimited you gotta write that...

Not really a hard limit, but tread carefully. 2bis probably where I'd put the max.
what do you mean by "2bis", do you mean 2 bussiness cards? what about personal cards?

I apologize. So there is no way of switching the freedom unlimited?
I would like to know how to get the x3 with freedom unlimited.
