How does a beginner get started? He applied for a Freedom card, but was denied due to lack of credit history.
Thanks.

I'm sure there's a thread on this.
A) any mix of these.

-Store credit card will  usually be approved.  Use the card (even for a small amount) each month and pay on time.
-Authorized user on someone else's account. Bonus for old account.
-Secured credit card. They keep some money in an account. Usually that is the credit limit for the card.  Use the card (even for a small amount) each month and pay on time.

B) after about 6 months, maybe as soon as 4, apply for a regular card.  Chase is a harder bank. Discover, Capital One, others,  may be easier.
Having a bank account at Chase may  make it easier to get a card.  And when you open an account, they may offer a credit card. But it may not push the card though anyway -IDK

Good luck.

Overall concensus question:
Better chances of approval with Citi or capital 1?
Or in general who is better to have first?

what does AMEX mean by the words "other credits" when it says in their Terms & Conditions --- Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits?

I am worried about them clawing back my 150k MR SUB, as i became short 68 cents from my $15k spend after deducting AMEX's own credits i.e. airline fee, targeted spend offers (not returns) from the total spent.

My AF is due for my Amex Bonvoy and I want to cancel.
Is there any way to get the free night and still cancel the card? As of now there's no free night deposited into my Marriott account.

If I have 3 inks already & 5 personal chase cards, great CR, am I better off closing one or two of the inks before applying for a new one or it shouldn’t affect my auto approval?

Business CC under personal name
« Reply #10658 on: November 17, 2022, 12:15:23 AM »
If my Business Credit Card has my own name on it (signed up for the card as the sole proprietor - as suggested on dansdeals.com if this is not a registered bbusiness) can an employee rent a car with the card that says my name on it, just like he can rent a car with a company credit card that has the business name on it?

I assume he'd need an authorised user card with his name on it.
That may be true even if the business was registered as one. That is, he can't use the card that says Jack's Emporium with Jack Smith's name on it.  He'd need an AU card.
