Saw some very good reviews for HTC one, and it seems to be built a lot better than the 4S.

successfully changed decision to HTC 1 [until I make him crazy again any minute ;D]

Are Windows phones not an option? I'd put them before the iPhone and perhaps even the s4.

just noticed this now.

Don't see why not.
I'm open, just never thought of it.

I am also switching plans now and was thinking of switching to the g2. After reading this thread I'm not sure anymore. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to this stuff.  I have iPhone 4S now and I want to get away from the iphone, mainly because I can't stand the limited memory and Also I hear other phones are so much more flexible. Coming from the iphone which has straight up 8gb or 16 gb I don't understand what 2gb and 32 rom means can someone explain? Also should I go with the htc one or something else over the g2?Thanks

It really boils down to specific needs or in your case, preference. I would recommend going to the T Mobile store and testing out both models to see which one you like better. I personally have the G2 with TMobile and am pretty much satisfied.

Both great devices. I myself prefer the HTC One stoftware as its a bit less busy.  The HTC One also has that awesome build quality. For my small hands it's also just a bit easier to hold than the G2. Both are excellent though and it will narrow down to personal preference. I'd play with both of them a bit.

So I decided on the g2 and I am really happy with it. It is so much better than the iPhone imo. However the one thing I don't like is that the texts don't pop-up when the phone is locked. I googled it and the two suggestions I saw were an app called dynamic notifications which I tried and really didn't like and another one called handcent which has really bad reviews. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm it seems like an odd thing they wouldn't have included. Maybe someone with a G2 knows how.

Same issue. In settings it does have an option for a pop-up but that's once u unlock the screen. I just pull down the screen while locked to preview

I ended up downloading the handcent app and playing around with the settings a little so that all it does is provide population locked.  It works but is a little annoying would prefer if it was just an option in the phone.

I have those settings checked off but it doesn't allow you to preview when the phone is locked

right I didn't say it would. The only thing you can do when the screen is locked is pull down on the taskbar from the top of the screen

Same issue means I have the same problem. 2nd sentence means there is a slightly different option available. 3rd is what I do which is a another alternative to view while locked. Kapish :)
