Letter from our Avreich:

Quote
Dearest DDF Family!

I cannot begin to express my gratitude and thanks for the outpouring of love which I see, I am humbled by my fellow DDF'ers who took it upon themselves to join the fundraising effort and help me in my time of need. It gladdens my heart to be part of such a family, who will go out of their way to help their fellows in need, whether it is financial or otherwise. I will be forever grateful to all of you, to those who donated the prizes, to those who donated money, and to those who made this a reality.

Thanks again!

What's this all about?
If you've been following this thread you may know that a longtime DDF'er who has a young family was arrested for being on the scene at the time of the sting operation.  Many of you have probably even met him in the real world. Several generous DDF'ers have donated prizes to be raffled off to bring attention to the defense fund created on his behalf.

The Pidyun Shvuum campaign (the general one) has gotten attention already in the media anyway, and I don't that DD would make it worse.

I was referring to the association with DD. It won't do any good to DD or to the defendant.

It would probably be a good idea to have some kind of clause that winning may be subject to verification that the donation was actually made.

I don't think it's an issue at this point, but just in case we get a bunch of new members who donated...

I see it both ways. 1. People don't want to fork over $100 so don't give anything. 2. People who would normally give $18, $36, $54 are now doing $100+ because that's what everyone is doing.

But for a guy that is need of 500K for a good defense team, we have to keep the numbers high.

Whoever can't meet $100 should donate for God's sake. Not every $36 has to come along with a prize. a prize is a push to up your donations a bit...

I understand your point. But not everyone here is capable of donating $100+ you also want a push for those $36 - $50 donations.

Obviously the incentive shouldn't be compared to the $100 one. .

Well said.

The prize for small donations is the Miztva.

The prize for the bigger donations is to push people to give more.

Either way, I think people that donate even under $100 should add their name to the wiki (separate column) as this should incent people to give.

Another anon DDF'er is donating a $50 GC to Sushi Metsuyan in Monsey.
This raffle will be open to all donations.

Post your name in the Wiki no matter what size your donation is.  Donations under $100 will only be in the Sushi raffle.  Donations $100 and over will be in both raffles.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
